Andean Trade Promotion Act
Update
The latest information
about the Andean Trade Promotion Act was sent on July 2 via ABI Administrative
Message 07-0154. This trade agreement was extended to provide benefits
for eligible countries from June 30, 2007 through February 29th, 2008.
Entries from Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador will not have to pay
duties until the last day of February.
There was some confusion
regarding this extension following the receipt of Administrative Message
07-0152, which declared the last date of this act to be July 2, 2007.
If you submitted any entries and paid duties for them before receiving
notice that the trade agreement had been extended, you may request a
refund from Customs.
In the meanwhile,
you may update your Country File for Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador
by editing the Expiration Date of 02/29/08 for J. Important:
Please make sure that you only have one J indicator under
the SPI codes. Some customers have reported having two separate J indicators
entered under SPI Code 1 and 3, which could lead to errors.
