ACE vs. ACS, What it Means to You

Last week's urgent message from ABI regarding the ACE processing of Bond and 5106 Queries was followed by another message reporting the postponement of that transition. This was because of the transactions were not being processed correctly by ABI, and so the date was changed to allow them to correct the situation.

You have probably heard about upcoming changes and ACE, and we've received some questions about what this means to our customers. As you have heard, ACE is designed to improve communications between brokers and CBP. Data transmitted via ABI will be sent to ACE in addition to ACS so that you can use your ACE portal account to access various reports and statements. The data that you send to ABI will be sent to both ACS and ACE, depending on which entity is processing the information.

What's important to know on an operational basis is that these changes will not affect the way that you use your ABI software. Any changes will take place after your data is received, and CBP will be handling those changes. As with last week's message, there may be some "hiccups" when new processes are implemented, but in general you will not see any changes in the way you use your software.

For more information about ACE and how it can benefit you, visit the CBP website.

A Word from our Help Desk

If you have a question or need assistance from our Help Desk, please make sure to call our support personnel to ensure you get the best service possible.

At ASCI, we have intentionally avoided installing automated answering systems so that you are connected directly with our support personnel to receive immediate service. Please refrain from sending support requests via fax or e-mail to ensure that you receive our immediate attention. E-mail delivery is not always accurate or timely, and faxes may not be seen without a phone call to let us know it's coming.

Remember that ASCI also offers After Hours support for those situations that need attention after our regular business hours. For more information, please give us a call.

VPN/MQ News: Early Birds Take Note

Customers who switched over to VPN/MQ several months back may be required to file additional information that is now required for that type of communication.

Our ABI representative gave us a list of users who need to update their eISA, and we sent out e-mails to those customers who need to perform this step.

If you received this e- mail, please go to https://apps.cbp.gov/tvpn/tvpn.asp as soon as possible to update your information. This step must be completed before the September 30 deadline!

If you have any questions about this requirement, please call Liz Farrat.
