Andean Treaty News

As you may have heard, the Andean Treaty was extended for 10 months until December 2008. However, ABI has not sent an official administrative message confirming that their system is ready to accept entries claiming "J" exemptions.

Our ABI rep suggested that our customers file their Immediate Delivery (3461) and then wait to file the Entry Summary. If you are close to the 10-day limit and have not received notification from ABI, you will have to file the entry, pay the duties and then file a claim later.

We will send out an ASCI E-Memo as soon as we are informed that ABI is ready. However, make sure to check for any e-mails from ABI so that you are up-to-date with the latest information.

ABI Updates: New FDA Affirmations of Compliance

Have you been receiving your e-mailed Administrative Messages from Customs? If you have, you know about the new compliance codes that can be used in the transmission of imported biological products.

To start using these codes, simply enter them in the FDA Compliance Type program in the Import, File Maintenance, Other Government Agencies menu. The new codes are:

STN: Submission Tracking Number
BLN: Biologics License Number

You will also need to delete two codes which will be discontinued on 3/27:

BPL: Biologic Product License Number
BFL: Biologic Establishment License No.

NCBFAA

ASCI of Miami will have a booth at the upcoming NCBFAA conference from April 6-10 in Orlando, FL.

If you plan on attending, let us know or stop by our booth. We love spending time with our clients and hope to see you there!

IATA Resolutions 600A and 600B: New AWB Terms

Attention Export & Unform Users: Effective March 17, you will be required to use the new IATA Air Waybill Conditions of Contract when printing your Air Waybills. To meet this requirement, contact our office so that we may upload the new forms for you. Please note that those forms cannot be used until March 15 so we are unable to make these changes on your system until that date.

Those customers who haven't purchased Unform may want to consider this money-saving option instead of re-ordering your Air Waybill forms. Along with the new terms specified in resolution 600B, resolution 600A provides that airlines can accept both colored and non-colored coded air waybills.

If you would like to learn more about Unform, please give us a call.
