Importer Security Filings: The Scoop on 10+2

As we mentioned in our June newsletter, our programmers are working on the upcoming 10+2 filings for the anticipated deadline published by CBP. We are working closely with ABI to make sure that all of our customers are ready in time to start providing this service to your importers.

Here's a brief overview of the data elements required for the ISF. This information must be filed 24 hours prior to container loading for a vessel destined for a US Port.

  • Manufacturer (or supplier) name and address,
  • Seller name and address,
  • Buyer name and address,
  • Ship to name and address,
  • Container Stuffing Location,
  • Consolidator name and address,
  • Importer of Record number,
  • Consignee number,
  • Country of origin,
  • Commodity / HTS Number for each commodity contained in the shipment,

In addition, the carrier must provide the following:

  • Vessel stow plan (container location) of the actual carrier,
  • Container event messages supplied by the carrier.

As explained in CSMS # 08-000096, these transaction sets are in Draft mode and subject to change. We will keep you posted as to any upcoming deadlines as they are announced.

AESDirect Updates

Effective October 1, AESDirect will impose new security measures on the website which include restrictions on password creation, account lock-outs, and automatic account de-activation after 45 days of inactivity.

While these features are designed to strengthen security, they will require more action on the part of the user to keep your account active.

With ASCI of Miami's AES Procedures, your data feed is always secure and does not require these additional maintenance measures. Best of all, you don't have to re-key information so you can be sure that the data going to AES matches your ASCI files. Call us for more information.

Harmonized Tariff Update

CBP sent out Message # 08-000111 regarding the latest Harmonized Tariff Update 0803 that is effective on July 1.

Please make sure to update your files accordingly by using the Reference Files program in the ABI Queries menu. Select the Harmonized Updates option and enter 0803 for the Update Number.

E-ASCI Users: Please note that it is your responsibility to perform tariff updates.

The ASCI office will be closed on July 4
