More News from AES: An Update for Export Procedures

As we mentioned in our previous newsletter, new regulations published in the Federal Register on June 2 require mandatory filing of export information. Also part of this change is the renaming of Shipper's Export Declarations (SEDs) to Electronic Export Information (EEIs).

This new regulation also brings about changes to the Standard Exemption Legends currently being used on printed forms. "Section 30.55" wording is being replaced by "NO EEI 30.37" for AWBs and B/Ls and some carriers are requiring this in advance of the September 30 deadline.

If you require these program changes immediately, please contact our Help Desk and we will schedule to transfer them to you. Please note this applies only to users of our Export Procedures programs and your account must be current to receive the update.

Tariff Update for Aug 15

Please note that the tariff update 0804 sent out via CSMS#08-000140 should not be performed until August 15, when the changes for CAFTA-DR will take place.

If you have not received the message about this tariff update, please click here to see it online.

CAFTA-DR and Softwood Lumber Changes

CSMS#08-000131 announced the new system requirements for CAFTA-DR. We will be sending out instructions via e-mail on setting these up as soon as they are ready. Stay tuned!

CSMS#08-000139 outlined new system requirements for softwood lumber. CBP has not announced the effective date for these changes but ASCI programmers are already working on the programs to collect this information.

10+2 Update

We continue to receive many inquiries from our customers about the upcoming 10+2 filing requirements. Our ISF/10+2 program has already been developed and we are waiting on CBP to begin the testing process. At this time, we are also working on a web-based interface that will allow your importers to submit that information to you via ASCI Link in order to meet filing deadlines.

If you have any suggestions on applications that will assist you in providing Importer Security Filings services to your customers, please give us a call. We welcome your input!
