Oman and Peru: GSP updates

Customs Message 09-000072 reported that goods from Oman and Peru are no longer eligible for GSP preferences. Make sure you update your Country File to include the end dates reported for the GSP ("A") termination. To do this, go to Import Procedures, File Maintenance, Country/Port/Fee, Country File. Enter OM for Oman and change the end date of the SPI Code to be 01/01/09, and press <Page Down> to save your changes. Next, enter PE for Peru and change the end date of SPI Code A to 2/1/09, and press <Page Down> to save.

Both of these countries now have new trade agreements (see CSMS # 09-000021 and 09-000070). These messages also reported that ACS programming updates to accept the new SPI codes for these countries have not been completed.

As soon as ASCI receives these new program specifications from ABI, we will modify our programs to accomodate those changes. Until then, and as reported in the message, "importers claiming preference under the [PTPA or UOFTA] should file manual entries or file ABI entries at release with manual entry summaries."

As soon as that programming has been completed, we will send out an ASCI E-Memo to notify you.

Payroll Reminder

Please remember to update your Withholding tax tables so that they are up-to-date with the latest 2009 info from the Internal Revenue Service. You are responsible for updating these tables on a yearly basis, based on information mailed to you by the IRS.

If you are not sure how to do this, and need additional assistance, please give us a call.

ISF (10+2) Update

We are pleased to report that many of our customers are now using our 10+2 application to submit their Importer Security Filing data to ABI with great success.

While there are no penalties or delays being assessed for lack of compliance, these Importer Security Filings are MANDATORY as of January 26, 2009. If you are interested in learning more about our program, please give us a call.
