ABI Updates: Please Read!
You've probably been getting many
CBP e-mails regarding changes and new requirements. Our programmers
are busy getting these new updates ready for implementation. Here's
a breakdown of what's going on and the status of the programming changes:
Oman and Peru Free Trade
Agreements: (CSMS #09-000150 and #09-000151) While these agreements
have been in place since the beginning of the year, ABI has only been
accepting them as of 4/1/09. We now have the programs ready for you,
so please call us if you need the changes.
Harmonized Update:
(CSMS #09-000152) Please make sure you perform tariff update #0901,
which contains updates for the Oman and Peru trade agreement as well
as other updates to the HTS.
Lacey Act: (CSMS
#09-000138) Enforcement of the data collection for the Lacey Act will
begin on May 1, 2009. We are currently in the testing phases of this
program and anticipate that it will be ready in mid-April. We will send
out another e-newsletter as soon as it is ready.
ISF (10+2) Updates: (CSMS
#09-000148) CBP sent out information regarding revised data sets for
ISF. For this reason, we are no longer distributing our ISF release
until these new changes are incorporated. For a list of changes (which
include reporting of Bond information and the addition of shipment types),
please refer to the message indicated.
Alcohol and Tobacco Tax
Increases (CSMS #09-000155) New rates can be located at http://www.ttb.gov/tobacco/index.shtml.
Rate increases are effective 4/1/2009 and apply to tobacco products,
cigarette papers, and cigarette tubes imported into or manufactured
in the US.
