ISF Updates

January was a busy month for ASCI with changing regulations regarding ISF bonds and other issues. We want to thank you for the feedback and suggestions you provided to help improve our program and our offerings.

US Customs has updated their FAQ document which is very helpful when trying to determine how to file different types of shipments for ISF. We recommend that you use this information for reference, and you can access that document by clicking here.

ISF 'No Bill on File' Messages

We have been getting many calls regarding those 'No Bill on File' messages related with ISF filings. Please know that you are responsible for making sure that your filings match up to what is being filed by the carrier, so if you continue receiving these messages for your ISF files, check for any of the following:

1) The Bill of Lading Information window in the ISF program is ONLY to be used for entering a House or a Simple Bill. Do NOT enter the Master B/L in that window. Instead, report the Master in the Additional References window (although the Master B/L is not one of the required elements).

2) Make sure that you are using the correct indicator for your Bill - BM for a House Bill and OB for a simple bill.

3) Use the Manifest Status Query program in the ABI Queries menu to see how the B/L has been manifested. While a query on the Master will not return the House information to you, doing the query on the House or Simple bill can help you determine if you filed it correctly.

Please Note:

Our office will be closed on February 15 for Presidents Day.

Tariff Update 0101

Please see CSMS #10-00029 regarding the first harmonized tariff update of 2010. DO NOT perform this update until March 1, which is when the changes will take place!

New 7501 Form: Important Information

ASCI Users who are not using Unform to print their forms on blank paper using a laser printer, take note! We are currently working with a new form-printing company to provide you with a better-priced option for purchasing the pre-printed 7501 forms.

The new 7501s require a separate continuation form when your entry does not fit on the original form. Therefore, it is important that you order these forms from an ASCI-approved printer as we will not make modifications to accommodate differently-designed forms.

Currently, our program is ONLY compatible with the Apperson form. However, JFK Office Supermarket (located in Jamaica, NY and with a Miami-based sales rep) has also provided us with forms that are compatible with our software. We are currently testing the continuation form to ensure that it is also compatible. They have promised to give ASCI customers a good price on the forms and discounts on shipping as well. When you are ready to order forms, please call Liz Mastrapa for more information.

We are currently seeking customers who would like to help us with testing of the new forms, whether it be via Unform or the pre-printed forms. Please give us a call if you are interested.
