ISF Changes

CBP recently sent out CSMS # 10-000120 regarding changes to the ISF Status Advisory messages. Effective July 2010, "No Bill on File" messages will be more descriptive to give you more information as to why there is no match with AMS records.

In addition, Duplicate ISF rejections will let you know if the duplicate was submitted by a different filer so that you may contact your importer to ensure that the ISF is being filed by the appropriate party.

In CSMS # 10-000125, ABI reported that they will be updating the Manifest Status Query to include results that will be beneficial for linking ISF filings to manifested Bills of Lading. This will be a great tool for those of you who have been receiving "No Bill on File" messages because you will be able to request Related B/L information. In addition, query results will include Bill of Lading type and an indicator to let you know if any ISF has been filed. These updates are expected to be in place by late July and we will be sending a newsletter when the programs are ready.

Software Support Clarification

As you know, your monthly maintenance fee gives you unlimited access to our help desk during our regular working hours. Our ASCI help desk specifically covers issues with our software, whether it be program errors, requests for modifications, or general questions.

ASCI has a separate IT department, headed up by Luis Garcia, which is available to assist our customers with hardware issues, including adding printers to your network, troubleshooting network malfunctions, and assisting with computer viruses and performance issues. These IT services are outside of the regular support services, so please note that this type of assistance is billable at the standard industry rate of $90 per hour.

FDA Product Codes

FDA continues to add product codes that may be required, and it is important that you stay up-to-date with these changes. The latest messages include CSMS#10-000117 regarding FDA codes for cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, and CSMS #10-000132 for Industry 54. Make sure you add these codes to your product code file if they will apply to you.
